Why You Should Train Your Back Muscles More

Back Muscles ExerciseOne of the most important areas of the body to strengthen is the back. A strong back will give you good posture, and good posture will fix a lot of nagging pains like stiff necks, bad shoulders, or achy low backs.

Strengthening The Back Helps Correct Posture

Gravity constantly pulls the human body forward into a doubled over position. You spend a lot of time looking down – at phones, at computers, at children, books, the ground, you name it – and every time you do, gravity pulls you towards your feet. All this rounding puts stress on your neck, shoulders, and even low back. The muscles on the back side of your body are the only thing keeping gravity from winning. They pull your head up, your chest out, and your shoulders back, which keeps you upright and in proper alignment, reducing the nagging aches and pains so many of us experience.

Do Fewer Front Exercise And More Back Ones

What do exercises like push ups, crunches, bicep curls, and planks have in common? They are all easy to do and they all train muscles on the front of the body. Pulling exercises like rows, pulls downs, reverse fly, chin ups, and even deadlifts require more technical know-how and often more equipment. That is why they are often missing from workout plans that are designed to be done at home. What about your exercise routine? Does it have plenty of pulling, or is it heavy on exercises for the front of your body?

For the best results, try to do at least two back exercises for every one of anything else. You’ll feel the difference!
